The one you pick automatically determines what terrains your race dislikes and hates. I would like to have seen something like:ġ. Terrain types are no longer inherently tied to races, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have the old system. So the warfare and economic impacts of the land was a huge part of AoW3 gameplay and seems to have been greatly reduced this time around. In addition to movement costs, terrain in AoW3 used to affect morale and happiness, which greatly impacted battles and the economy, respectively.Īnd terraforming not only impacted the race that was adapted to the terrain, but all players in the game, since every race had a list of terrain types that it liked, disliked, hated, or was neutral about. I just wish it wasn't as over-simplified as it is now. It's quite cool that desert adaptation allows building farms on desert. These abilities can be used in spells and actions like any other, still limited in what we can do, but it's something.I do like the bonuses they picked. Again, you can specify what terrain Theme or Overlay to apply this to and 'Cost Overide' parameter allows you to specify a new movement penalty. rpk under the Movement Abilities category. The last option are the Movement modifiers, same. On the same category there is the Wetland Foraging property which is a Terrain Healing effect, I assume this can be given a minus number to make it a damaging property, or at least reduction to regen. I haven't found the location of the Preference stats so we can introduce our own. These are handled by specifying the preference (Hate-Like) and the terrain Theme or Overlay. The first are morale bonuses or debuffs, done via AOW_Unitproperties.rpk under the Terrain Properties category. I don't think there is a straight way to apply a property to units on certain terrain, but there are a few options to apply effects. Good question, I'd love there to be more options than the ones we have access to.
